Sea Breeze Summarizes Results of Participation in WUF13

Sea Breeze took part in the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13), held in Baku from May 17 to 22. The forum was organized by UN-Habitat and the Government of Azerbaijan. According to official data, WUF13 became the largest forum in the event’s history, bringing together more than 57,000 participants from 182 countries.

Sea Breeze presented one of the largest stands at the forum exhibition. For the first time, a 9-meter model of the 23-kilometer coastline was unveiled, showcasing the key projects of the resort city, including Caspian Dream Liner, Halfmoon, Fire Island, and Star Island. The venue also hosted the premiere of a film dedicated to the environmental development of Sea Breeze, created for the project’s 20th anniversary.

One of the central themes of Sea Breeze’s participation was educational and environmental initiatives. The project’s stand hosted an award ceremony for the winners of Spring Lab, a program developed jointly with the EcoSphere center. Three children’s and youth projects received grants and the opportunity to be implemented within Sea Breeze.

Among the key outcomes of the forum was the signing of a memorandum between Sea Breeze and the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan. The document предусматривает cooperation in the fields of sustainable development, environmental innovation, energy efficiency, and the development of the Sea Breeze Green Innovation Hub initiative. Today, Sea Breeze features approximately 300 hectares of landscaped greenery, with more than 11 million trees and plants planted across the территории.

Another major event of the forum was the signing of an agreement between Sea Breeze and Baku White City on cooperation in sustainable environmental development and attracting international investment. The projects plan to work together on modern urban solutions and the ecological modernization of the urban environment.

During WUF13, the construction of Sea Breeze Arena was also announced — a new multifunctional complex on the Caspian Sea coast. The project will combine an international-level football stadium, concert infrastructure, public spaces, and a new entertainment zone called Arena District.

The finale of WUF13 was SPLASH for Swimmable Cities international campaign, held on the coastline of Sea Breeze Resort with the support of UN-Habitat, the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Azerbaijan, and the Azerbaijan Swimming Federation. Around 100 forum participants simultaneously took part in a swim in the Caspian Sea.
