One of Turkey’s most popular contemporary actors, Kerem Bürsin, visited Azerbaijan as the guest of honor at the international IBA Champions’ Night boxing tournament.
During his visit, the actor traveled to Sea Breeze, where a ceremonial unveiling of his personalized star took place on the Sea Breeze Walk of Fame. The ceremony was also attended by Emin Agalarov.
Kerem Bürsin is an internationally acclaimed Turkish actor who gained worldwide recognition for his leading roles in the hit television series Waiting for the Sun (Güneşi Beklerken), Matter of Respect (Şeref Meselesi), and especially the romantic drama Love Is in the Air (Sen Çal Kapımı), which has been broadcast in more than 90 countries. He received the Seoul International Drama Awards for Best Actor for his performance in This City Will Follow You (Bu Şehir Arkandan Gelecek) and is also a recipient of Turkey’s prestigious Altın Kelebek (Golden Butterfly) Award. Today, Bürsin is widely regarded as one of the most recognizable and sought-after actors in Turkish cinema and television.
During the ceremony, Kerem Bürsin shared that he first visited Baku 12 years ago while filming a movie. He described the city as beautiful and expressed his hope to return again soon.
Following the ceremony, the actor attended the IBA Champions’ Night international boxing tournament, which was held at Sea Breeze for the first time. Organized by the International Boxing Association (IBA) with the support of the Azerbaijan Boxing Federation, the open-air sporting event brought together renowned professional boxers from around the world and attracted a large audience of boxing fans, sports officials, international guests, and spectators.
The opening ceremony featured performances by the Natiq Rhythm Group and Azerbaijani singer Elnur Huseynov, who represented Azerbaijan at the Eurovision Song Contest.
The evening featured six exciting bouts. Team Azerbaijan concluded the tournament with three victories and two draws. Victories were secured by Sarkhan Aliyev, Saidjamshid Jafarov, and Subhan Mamedov. In the main event of the evening, world champion Subhan Mamedov entered the ring to a live performance of “Can’t Be Touched” by boxing legend Roy Jones Jr. and dominated his opponent, claiming a fourth-round technical knockout victory. The bouts featuring Tayfur Aliyev and Nabi Isgandarov both ended in draws.
