The summer season officially opened at Sea Breeze Marina Yacht Club, bringing together sporting activities, family entertainment, and the vibrant atmosphere of a seaside resort. Guests enjoyed a festive fair, complimentary workshops for children and adults, children's entertainment programs, live music, food courts, and presentations of new water sports activities. The event was organized with the support of Dream Group International and Absheron Marine, the official operator of Sea Breeze Marina.
One of the highlights of the day was the amateur SB20 Regatta, dedicated to Republic Day on May 28. Eight SB20-class sailboats competed in the race, each crewed by a skipper and a four-person team. The youngest participant was 15 years old, while the oldest was 61. The regatta was supervised by official race committee boats, while spectators followed the competition from the yacht club grounds.
The regatta's chief judge was Tatyana Srebnaya — a Master of Sport in sailing, Azerbaijan’s first female yacht captain, professional sailor, coach, and multiple participant in international regattas.
"Today, there is no marina in Baku or anywhere else in Azerbaijan quite like Sea Breeze Marina Yacht Club. We organize regattas not only for professionals but also for enthusiasts who have fallen in love with sailing. People go out to sea and experience the wind, the spray, and the excitement," said Tatyana Srebnaya.
Following the race, an award ceremony was held for the participants. The team led by skipper Emin Alekperov finished in third place, Jamal Hasanov’s crew took second place, and the regatta was won by the team captained by Ruslan Azizov.
The event also introduced several new water sports initiatives, including a sailing school for children aged 8 to 16, a diving center, a surfing center, and kayaking programs. Guests and residents of Sea Breeze had the opportunity to learn more about each activity and participate in complimentary sailing and kayaking masterclasses led by professional instructors, including specialists from Portugal and other countries.
Farhad Aliyev, Executive Vice President of the Azerbaijan Water Sports Federation, noted that Sea Breeze is set to become an important platform for the development of water sports in the country.
"The Azerbaijan Water Sports Federation plans to develop several disciplines at Sea Breeze, including sailing, canoeing, kayaking, and other water sports. In the future, we also plan to introduce dragon boats, expand stand-up paddleboarding, and promote other modern water activities," said Farhad Aliyev.
A dedicated children's zone featured complimentary creative workshops where young participants painted ceramic boats and tote bags, which they could take home as souvenirs.
The event program also included a Cycling Marathon by Crocus Fitness, featuring group training sessions for guests.
